Melissa Ferrick- "Everything I Need"

I can identify with everything in this song... This is a great artist and really speaks with an honest voice...similar to the style of Tracey Chapman.

unbalanced pieces

I wanted to post this sometime ago according to something but clips with this piece didn't exist yet. So this has nothing to some actual kind of spirit. It's just something I do really like.
Enjoy! Have a nice weekend! :-)

have a nice week :-)

John Hartmann showed me Kulak's Woodshed about 20 days ago. I liked the few I saw and I promissed to make a better visit.

There are all kinds of music you can imagine. The musicians playing there are almost unknown but as you can see they are great and their performances are almost perfect. I will return to Paul Kulak's Woodsheed. But now I leave you "Harp and Soul"

Good night! :-)

Hi Peras!

I just got back from my trip and saw this and thought of you! I thought it was pretty darn cute and I love the ending... ( I think I'm starting to understand how to post to Kings of Maybe, finally.) :OD

pete yorn and scarlett johansson - relator

I have so much to catch up on, but in the meantime I wanted to post this quirky little tune because it's kind of addicting.

from happiness

"Weeping Willow"
Did you hear them call you . Did you hear the wind of dream just passing by . There is another whole world hanging there... upside down. Did you see them dress you . Did you feel your elbows tied up side by side . Someone has brought me a new straight costume... in an asylum. In the mildness of the spring . You feel creepy like a worm . In your lost enchanted brain . You're proud to go. With the fairness of your skin . You feel funny in this world . In your lost enchanted brain . Weeping willow. Did you hear them squeaking . Did you see your broken wings just flying by . They drop me in this fairground... abnormal. Could you hear them howling . Could you breathe inside your well-known plastic bag . It was a mean to get away from this... accident. In the mildness of the spring . You feel creepy like a worm . In your lost enchanted brain . Weeping willow. With the fairness of your skin . You feel funny in this world . In your lost enchanted dreams . You're proud to go... You're proud to go.

Edward Sharpe and The Magnetic Zeros Pt. 2

Great news, I received this 2nd installment of Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros "Kisses Over Babylon". You might notice a cameo with legend Kirk Douglas. They obviously got a budget...

ValGal Art: Illustration Friday: confined

From this post:
Most of the time artists have to create in a confined perimeter. But I usually try to go beyond the boundaries any way I can get away with ;) My submission for Illustration Friday's "confined" theme is one of my dimensional paintings titled "Oriental Evening". My bridge paintings are quite popular so I have done them many ways for many people and each one is unique and yet similar. I think bridges help to break out of the confines and going outside of the frame helps too. I always put in details of life inside the windows in the form of glimpses of men and women, instruments. birds in cages, cups with tea or coffee in them and books, paintings, kitties and dogs. This one I even made some clothes on a line created from handmade paper and all the flowers are dimensional. I hope you enjoy! Speaking of enjoyment I went with my friend Trish to see her daughter Katherine in her music group tonight at the Apple Store in Santa Monica. The name of the group is Sonos and they are so good that I want to share this with the world!!! We live on the same street and have been neighbors for years. I have watched Kath grow into a beautiful young woman so I had to go see Sonos tonight and give my support before they go back out on tour again. They have a deal on Verve Records, these kids are kicking butt! Because I know Kath so well I asked if I could have a picture with the band, a kind of "I knew them when" and I was the only one to have my pic with the band, YAY!!! They are amazing and you must click on to this word: kings of maybe and you can see what I am talking about. There are no instruments only voices in this group. Awesome!

Sonos

Saw this band tonight and you can read a little about them on my blog. I hope you like and I have an interview with them on Sunday and I will add it to this post then. Please enjoy the unique stylings of Sonos. I should mention there are no instruments in this band only voices.

Getting home this morning with my Timmy's coffee and the smell of wet cedar all around, this song came on. A totally Canadian moment.

Desert Song

This is pretty out there and from one of my sources who is sending me these 12 part mini movies as they are released. This is the band Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros. "Desert Song" for Pam as promised ;)

rescued sound

Candyrat is (was?) a publisher dedicated to tapping/fingerstyle and pieces for acoustic guitar. As I have not visited it for nearly two years. I went there again but honestly I found nothing better than I had already post in Resgate Som. One of the best examples is the one below by Antoine Dufour and I wish you Good Night "Catching The Light" :-)

Looking back..

Oh... the nostalgia (it´s the same word in portuguese) ;)

Good and Happy New Year

2 years ago I posted this beautiful and strong text from Mario Pelchat, in another place. 1 year ago I rescued it here. Here it is again:

The clip is what it is... I did my best to make the translation to English. I'd appreciate some repairs. Hugs to you all :-)

Good and Happy New Year to all those who have nothing in their arms, but sad and free heartbeats*,   whose eyes shine of all the restrained tears,   whose faces reveal atrocious and silent blows,   whose words no more reflect the thoughts, because these thoughts are painful.   Good and Happy New Year to all whose acts are nothing more than symbols,   whose attitudes are forged of courage,   straightening their back to hide their shame,   and walk only to walk straight ... but do walk.   Good and Happy New Year to all humans bent,   all those who do not do what they like,   and to all those who like who they do not say.   To all those who actually touch you knowing you,   and to those who touch you even not knowing you.   Good and Happy New Year to all those who carry within real injuries,   an immense nothing made of all extortions.   Good and Happy New Year to those who doubtfully is the last,   and to those who is the last and there is not doubt,   to those who don't dare of thinking of it,   and to those who don't have the weakness to acknowledge it.   To those who don't dare to look at you because their glance, perhaps, would betray them,   and they want to keep for themselves their terrible secret.   Good and Happy New Year to those who smile to hide the sadness of their souls,   jest to mask the ugly head of their hearts,   scream to silence the panic in their eyes,   play the comedy to not darken their lives.   Good and Happy New Year to certain gladsome, too, I forgot,   to those who carry their heads, their hearts and their souls as slightly as the weight of helium.   Good and Happy New Year to those that pleasure astray and whose blood carries all the ideal,   because for them the lewd look of life is enough.   Good and Happy New Year finally to those who have the detachment of spirit,   and to those who treat the bodies or souls,   to those whose hearts beat generously,   and to those who fight for justice wanting to establish the kingdom of peace.   To all who are pure in their thoughts and their love.   Good and Happy New Year to you all who give a divine sense to humanity.
