10 years without the master wolf

Ten years ago, as I used to do religiously, I listened to António Sérgio's radio show. The day after, I was driving to my family's farm and I heard by the radio that AS had died early in that morning of 1st November 2009. I spent the rest of the day in shock. This guy was undoubtedly a master for 2 generations or more, the lighthouse for unknown cool and good music.
Yes, it is Halloween tonight and Halloweens never were the same since 10 years ago.
AS showed us the French band Air since its start and also Beach House and its singer Victoria Legrand. Of course he would play Le Voyage Dans La Lune. His beloved Moon.
The clip below is pretty creepy and suitable for the occasion. Besides, I'm sure that AS is around the moon enjoying Rock and Roll.

remembering Durutti Column

Sorry, I've been away at the music festivals and I made some video recordings which require a lot of edition. I'll be back with that material as soon as I finish them.
Now, and for the 2nd time, I'm showing an artist that I 1stly saw in 1980 or 81.

Vini Reilly is an excellent composer and guitarist strangely very little known worldwide. His best audience is the Portuguese and because of that he made several songs dedicated to them and even an entire album. Vini has been a little away due to a stroke he suffered some years ago.

the warp / the weft

Chris Pellnat have shown us some nice and unknown projects he's working with.
The Warp / The Weft is one of them. This band exists at least since 2013. But I've only heard about it 2 years ago as posted here. Somehow it kinda reminds me a bit of Jethro Tull, but it's clearly different. A Sun-Filled Room is a song taken from their last album Dead Reckoning, out next August.
I'm very glad to meet this band one more time.
Enjoy :)

Above and again, A Sun Filled Room, live last April at Dead Radio Podcast.
Below, Blood of the Hunt, live last year also at Dead Radio Podcast:

alive at my place

Saw these guys more than 10 times. But it was the 1st one without Zé Pedro, the father of this band. However he was well remembered by the public shouting his name in a very touching moment.
Never ever this place had such a huge audience, invading all the spaces around. Amazing! :)

amazing Thou

Another band I've never heard about. Listened to other performances and I have to say that this one shown here is not behind of any of others, alive or not. So so pleased to meet these Thou :)

Celebrating 20 years of a monument

The 1st 3 albums of the Belgium band dEUS are all monuments. All of them have very good and innovating songs.
The band conquered definitively the alternative Portuguese audience, their greatest fans, with Ideal Crash and mostly with this song, Instant Street.
Tom Barman decided to live in Lisbon and to thank this lovely audience, the band started this 20th Anniversary tour precisely in Lisbon.
The clip below does not have a very good sound. But look at the dancers :)

surreal dates

When writing the song, the Alt-J threesome imagined what historical figure they would go on a date with. We know that Joe Newman chose Lee Miller and Gus Unger-Hamilton went for Anne Boleyn. However drummer Thom Green's choice of the poet Sylvia Plath didn't make it into the lyrics.

you got something

So here's beautiful Mercy Weiss and her jazzy style covering Brand New Key. Not easy listening but a very good and peculiar experimental tribute to Melanie's original, below performing 20 years after Woodstock.

Have a beautiful Valentine's day :)
