Good and Happy New Year

2 years ago I posted this beautiful and strong text from Mario Pelchat, in another place. 1 year ago I rescued it here. Here it is again:

The clip is what it is... I did my best to make the translation to English. I'd appreciate some repairs. Hugs to you all :-)

Good and Happy New Year to all those who have nothing in their arms, but sad and free heartbeats*,   whose eyes shine of all the restrained tears,   whose faces reveal atrocious and silent blows,   whose words no more reflect the thoughts, because these thoughts are painful.   Good and Happy New Year to all whose acts are nothing more than symbols,   whose attitudes are forged of courage,   straightening their back to hide their shame,   and walk only to walk straight ... but do walk.   Good and Happy New Year to all humans bent,   all those who do not do what they like,   and to all those who like who they do not say.   To all those who actually touch you knowing you,   and to those who touch you even not knowing you.   Good and Happy New Year to all those who carry within real injuries,   an immense nothing made of all extortions.   Good and Happy New Year to those who doubtfully is the last,   and to those who is the last and there is not doubt,   to those who don't dare of thinking of it,   and to those who don't have the weakness to acknowledge it.   To those who don't dare to look at you because their glance, perhaps, would betray them,   and they want to keep for themselves their terrible secret.   Good and Happy New Year to those who smile to hide the sadness of their souls,   jest to mask the ugly head of their hearts,   scream to silence the panic in their eyes,   play the comedy to not darken their lives.   Good and Happy New Year to certain gladsome, too, I forgot,   to those who carry their heads, their hearts and their souls as slightly as the weight of helium.   Good and Happy New Year to those that pleasure astray and whose blood carries all the ideal,   because for them the lewd look of life is enough.   Good and Happy New Year finally to those who have the detachment of spirit,   and to those who treat the bodies or souls,   to those whose hearts beat generously,   and to those who fight for justice wanting to establish the kingdom of peace.   To all who are pure in their thoughts and their love.   Good and Happy New Year to you all who give a divine sense to humanity.

Hi Andrea,

I came across this New Year wish this past weekend and have been enthralled with it since. Neither French nor English is my native language, so I'm not quite sure ... but here is my take of the text in English. Thanks for your blog.

Thanh Lam

Good and Happy New Year,
To all those who have nothing in their arms, but sad and uncontrollable shakings
Whose eyes shine with all the held back tears
Whose faces reveal atrocious and silent blows
Whose words no longer reflect their thoughts,
because these thoughts are painful.

Good and Happy New Year
To all whose acts are nothing more than symbols
Whose attitudes are full of bravery
Who straighten their back to hide their sorrow
Who walk alone to walk straight ahead,
But walk…

Good and Happy New Year
To all broken humans, to all those who do not do what they love,
And to all those who love what they do not say.
To all those whom you touch knowingly,
And to all those who touch you even not knowing it.

Good and Happy New Year
To all those who carry within them, real wounds
An immense void made of all the separations.

Good and Happy New Year
To those this year is their last and have doubt,
And to those this year is their last and have no doubt
To those who have no strength to think about it
And to those who are strong enough to acknowledge it.
To those who don't dare to look at you
Because their glance, perhaps, would betray them
And because they want to keep for themselves their terrible secret.

Good and Happy New Year
To those who smile to hide the sadness of their souls
Jest to mask the squint of their hearts,
Scream to silence the panic in their eyes,
Play the comedy to not darken their lives.

Good and Happy New Year,
To the happy ones also, that I forgot,
To those who carry their heads, their hearts and their souls
as lightly as the weight of helium.

Good and Happy New Year
To those that pleasure led astray and whose blood carries all the ideal,
Because for them the fleshy appearance of life is enough.

Good and Happy New Year finally
To those who have the detachment of the mind
And to those who take care of the bodies or the souls,
To those whose hearts beat generously,
And to those who, in fighting for justice, want to establish the reign of peace,
To all who are pure in their thoughts and their love.

Good and Happy New Year
To you all,
Who gave a divine meaning to humanity.

Thank you for your visit and for your kindness, Thanh Lam
:)

"battements (tristes et) gratuits" is not "()uncontrollable shakings", but meaningless free hugs. I preferred to write free anyway :)

Talked to a guy in French-speaking area of Switzerland and he told me that "battements" is most probably heartbeats, pulse.
Happy New Year everyone :)
