From Cabo Verde, with love
Cabo Verde’s¹ brilliant performance in this Football World Cup² has earned the people and the nation great global recognition.
Cape Verde is an archipelago of ten islands located off the western coast of North Africa. The islands were uninhabited when the Portuguese discovered them. Consequently, they were settled by people of diverse origins, primarily North Africans and Europeans. The language spoken is *Kriolu* (or Cape Verdean Creole), a Portuguese-based creole. Cape Verdeans are scattered across the globe. The largest community lives in the USA, numbering 750,000 people, a figure exceeding the nation's own population of half a million. Portugal follows with around 350,000, trailed by the rest of Europe and certain African countries. In any case, the country's art and culture have long been shaped by a constant exchange between the islands and Portugal, as exemplified by the band Fidju Kitxora³.

Hot Chip, Flutes
This is a matter of love and hate. I love this band and most of their songs. But the memory of my experience watching them live, was disgraceful, painful, awful. I waited 'til 3AM to watch them at Nos Alive 2019. The sound was painfully deafening. And I had to leave. As much as I read about them, this happens often... Much better to watch their videos...
And let us keep the message of this song.
Have a nice week :)
