My 2011 choice
And so I reached my 2011 fave song. My final choice "hovered" on the stunning Low - You See Everything, on Brian Eno - Pour it out (what a superior piece of music), the enchanting Hanna Cohen - Child Bride, the dancing Grimes - Vanessa LOL! I LOVE THIS :D, the powerful Anna Calvi - Love Won't be Leaving, and her inspiring PJ Harvey - Written on the forehead, so excellent.
And this is my choice:
thanks Vallie :)

I've been doing my choice of the best 2011 songs we posted. It's not easy once we have 61! But I have already a ... 21 top + :D
Until then, I got this strange desire to watch some kinda silly thing:

World Heritage
This is a post about an old kind of Music from a city and from a country. This kind of music became popular by the sailors and by some bohemian life in Lisboa (Lisbon).
I have to say I don't like most of Fado's songs but I love some a lot.
Yesterday, this kind of music was classified as World Heritage. And I'm proud of it :)

clandestine
"Deolinda". I have to confess: I don't like this band. But! I LOVE this song. "Clandestino":
The night was coming cold | black shadows were looming | It was midnight | and my love was late | Our house, our life, | was again turned upside down | At midnight | my love wasn't home.
Oh, I don't know where he is, | will he ever return home, | this was our commitment! | And if by chance we get bad luck, | the deal is not to wait | because our love is clandestine.
Hidden, with the baby, | I didn't care, I waited. | It was midnight | and my love was late | and scratched by brambles. | I don't even remember what I wished... | Never return, | lovers, another house!
And when he finally arrived, | He brought the flowers he picked up | and a toy for the boy. | And when the guard aimed | I was the one who hugged him | because our love is clandestine.
Have a fine weekend :)

live another day
| As usual I'll be away and tuned on Radar driving by morning. So this turn I want to remind in time that António Sérgio is gone two years ago. In this post we have two songs and two artists (Tom Verlaine and Baby Dee) that only AS presented for an important audience that followed him religiously. We have what I always classified as the most amazing of the most covered song of Robert Zimmerman (as AS used to call him). From "Blow Up", a very exclusive live album, wich AS played entirely at least two times! It was monumental! Then we have a beautiful song that I posted before here. It says it all: "As songs that go forgotten, are found, remembered, loved and sung again... And if I can remain there, and if I can remain there, I will stay. And I will live another day... Safe, inside the day, inside the song. Safe inside ..." |

era um redondo vocábulo
the song that's singing in mind now
It was a round word, a rough sum. Waves were revealed watching all little brothers. Fingers brushes their hairs. Household's wastes. By the stairs of Laura the paint was falling into the empty cabinet. Bringing barbs, calling the phone, killing cockroaches. The anger grew, claiming revenge. By Laura's steps at the dance room... Outside the children were playing and Laura at the waiting room also educates the air...

it's the end, they said
In 1995, after a long wait for a REM concert, I bought the ticket to see them. I heard them since middle 80's but then they sang "shinny happy people" with the help of a happy forgotten 52 girl. And after, they told that "everybody hurts" wich was played everywhere ad nauseam. So they said enough, let's be apart of mainstream for good. Oh horror, it was a betrayal to the newest fans! "Eat dog shit, call Bernadette" sang once Michael saying he couldn't remember the lyrics of "the one I love"... In 1995 2 members of the band became seriously sick and so many concerts of European tour were canceled. Fans who were dying to hear "everybody h..." for the 2804th time bit their own arms and cried "it can not be, get another bassist, I want to see the wonderful Miiiichael"...
