West End Girls

On 2023 November 21, Sleaford Mods released this hard-edged cover of Pet Shop Boys' classic West End Girls to fight homelessness.

man in catharsis

Minutes are losses to lived stories. Instants are not enough to lick the wounds.
And time comes after me. Bring of me. And time comes after you. Bring of you. And time comes after us. Bring of us.

A port, when it's cheerful, is the right place to dock. And we want to stay, And... we want to stay.
A port, when it's cheerful, is the right place even far from the sea. And we want to stay!

Love is urgent

Urgentemente

Urgently

Love is urgent.
A boat at sea is urgent.
It's urgent to destroy certain words, hate, loneliness and cruelty, some laments, many swords.
It's urgent to invent joy, to multiply kisses, the harvests, it's urgent to discover roses and rivers and clear mornings.
Silence falls on the shoulders and the light impure, until it hurts.
Love is urgent, it's urgent to remain.

Have a beautiful Valentine's Day <3

Sara Correia. From the people to the people

Sara Correia is a young Portuguese singer of Fado, the urban traditional genre of song of Lisbon.
Fado are mostly soulful songs and were originally created centuries ago by a mixture of local musicians and Portuguese Guitar players with local communities of immigrants, mixing their soulful songs with Portuguese guitars.
Sara Correia is precisely a descendent from those communities, growing up and living in one of "people's neighbourhoods", Chelas.
Now, that she is a famous artist, she decided to thank her neighbours and friends, giving them a free concert.
Here's her song of proud of her origins: "I come from my neighborhood, from my window I count the stars (estrelas/stellas). I'm not from anywhere else, I'm from Chelas."

And now, Sara expressing her gratitude to her most important reference, Amália Rodrigues.
