You may or may not like but I think he is funny and different. I read this about Arnaud Fleurent-Didier and it inspired me to have a listen: I know very little about Arnaud Fleurent-Didier (France, forgive me) but I'm certainly intrigued by this song/video's catchiness/weirdness, and the man's general Gainsbourg-ness. ~S&S

When I first read your post I visited Arnaud's link and the 1st song there sounded to me like a clone of Empire of the Sun http://kingsofmaybe.blogspot.com/search/label/empire%20of%20the%20sun
And most of latin Anglo-Saxon Pop clones are terribly bad.
However this song is ... yes: different and beautiful :-)
