Dry Cleaning, the good surprise of this terrible year

Dry Cleaning is a new British post-punk band and they presented us this videoclip one month ago.
This is so refreshing! After all, this horrible year brought us some nice things!
Enjoy :)

KoM, the pleasure of sharing Sharon

If there's an artist that we discovered and always loved to share, is Sharon Van Etten. The 1st post with her was made by Val on 2012, when she started to be known worldwide, this blog was already 4 years old.
Here's Let Go, Sharon's last song:

And let's remind some other monuments from her. Cheers!

So long, dear friend

For almost one year we haven't had any news about our dear member, Senta. Then, I found that she passed away in August, after a long-term care.

Senta was an artist, a painter, a sculptor, an illustrator and a graphic designer.

She was a beautiful person, she had a great sense of humor and extreme good taste.

She honored us participating in this blog for a couple of years.

Since 2013, she started leaving her blogs and social media activities and contact has been decreasing.

So long, dear friend.

Kings of Maybe, 12 years already!

With Cat Power today, recorded in 1996, 1998 and 2006.

Many things are happening lately, I even forgot this 12th anniversary. And then I decided to post when I was in the mood for it. Made 15 days later, this post is symbolically marked as made on November 4, as it should be. Enjoy :)

António Sérgio, 11 years after

António Sérgio, was the most important promoter of alternative and underground music in Portugal and one of the most appreciated in Europe. He was a radio show director, a journalist and a record producer. Also he worked as a disc jockey.
His radio shows were often absolutely artistic atmospheres*. As the example below, a repost about a radio show presented on Tuesday, 3 of February, 2009. Can anyone imagine a radio show overture and sequence like this at midnight?

António Sérgio died of acute myocardial infarction, exactly 11 years ago.

*(This is why I lose my mind when people classify this kind of professional as "radialista" a cheap Brasilian expression that doesn't even have a translation in any language).

Diamonds are forever

Sean Connery, 1930 - 2020

a song for Halloween, take 2

Round of Puckish
They were all together , four hundred witches , waiting waiting , Waiting for the full moon
They were all together , An old snitch came , dancing in the churchyard
Someone died
Arlindo gravedigger , with your hunchback , Take me first , to the open tomb
Arlindo Arlindo, dancer of fairies , Go to-legged , Dig my abode
Arlindo gravedigger , Dig my abode , Close my tomb , I want shallow grave
Arlindo Arlindo , dancer of fairies , Go to-legged , Dig my abode

So this is an amazing cover of this song by the Galician band Moura

but I don't

Noiserv - "Por Arrasto". Such a beautiful song :)

I just tried to watch myself standing - The uncertain way to understand myself by heart
At home always afterwards - The uncertain shape ends up touching
But the cars pass by standing - Shapes win standing
But I don't
I grab everything that comes in sequence - and slowly I shut up just because I am
but the pots fill up standing - the leaves die standing
But I don't
I return whenever I get lost, so I happened

quatre mains

And the beating heart. Like a four-hands we play the chorus. No embarrassment. You'll not want me.
And what's over there? It's the four-hands played in vain between you and me. It's the beating heart.

The age of feelings.
We don't care when we reinvent them every time like an inexhaustible battery, both ecological and sordid.
It is the recycling of love. Brief and intense.
I am looking at you. What are you waiting for?

Bonnie and Clyde

You've heard the story of Jesse James? Of how he lived and died?
If you're still in need of something to read, here's the story of Bonnie and Clyde.
Now, Bonnie and Clyde are the Barrow gang. I am sure you all have read how they were and still.
And those who still are usually found dying or dead.
They call them cold hearted killers. They say they are heartless and mean.
But I say this with pride. That I once knew Clyde when he was honest and upright and clean.
But the laws fold around kept taking him down and locking him up in a cell
'Til he said to me: "I'll never be free", so I'll meet a few of them in hell
If a policeman is killed in Dallas, and they have no clue or guide
If they can't think or find, they just wipe their slake clean and hang it on Bonnie and Clyde.
If they try to act like citizens and rent them a nice little flat
About the third night they're invited to fight by a sub gun's rat tat tat.
Some day they'll go down together. They'll bury them side by side.
To few it will be grief to the law a relief. But it's death for Bonnie and Clyde

Hey pal

This huge human being is turning 70 today.
I've been watching this great poet, composer, musician many times. Per example, last year I watched two of his concerts. And it's always a pleasure to watch this person humbly and generously sharing his art.
Congratulations, pal!

In the neighborhood of love, life is a merry-go-round
Where there's always room for someone else
The neighborhood of love was made with colored pencils
For the people who suffered from having no one

In the neighborhood of love time dies slowly
In a pipe rotating from hand to hand
In the neighborhood of love, there are those who ask smiling
Will we still be here at the end of the summer?

Hey pal, let me open with you
And vent to you
Tell you about my loneliness
Ah, it's good to smile a little
And to relax a little
I know you understand me well

In the neighborhood of love, life goes on the same
From cafe to cafe, from bar to bar
In the neighborhood of love the sun seems bigger
And there are waves of tenderness in every look

The neighborhood of love is a marginal area
Where there are no prisons or hospitals
In the neighborhood of love everyone has to deal
With their sentimental bruises

Hey pal, let me open with you
And vent to you
Tell you about my loneliness
Ah, it's good to smile a little
And to relax a little
I know you understand me well

supernada - supernothing, take 1

My self-praise gave me a shiver . I never had a knack for fish in a river
The art wanted to be life, but that's not for everyone . As milk cream it didn't dream to be free
My self-praise gave me a shiver . I never had a knack for fish in a river . Neither a knack nor a temper
Mom, I made a man! Inside one human, inside another human
Wish I knew how it's made . Don't even wanna think about it!
It's my toy, it's my toy! I spoil, I fix, I understand . And above all, it’s where I learn . To hush my fear
There is a house in the back that keeps the secret, Even you are afraid. Even you are afraid
On the other side, I watch, always in shape to hide the truth . Sometimes I almost burst, sometimes I almost burst
(So why don't you burst?) The world wants me to lie. The world loves lies
It's my toy, it's my toy! I spoil, I fix, I understand . And above all, it’s where I learn . To hush my fear

farewell, Dave Greenfield

Keyboards is a kind of outsider in Punk rock bands and its rough music. However, some bands insisted in having this kind of finesse in their music. One of those bands, are the Stranglers. Also I instantly remember of a couple of bands more, the Tubes and the Magazine.
Dave Greenfield is best known by his too very much known song Golden Brown. But since the start of these grandfathers of punk, the Stranglers, Greenfield left his signature, many times compared to Ray Manzarek of the Doors. The stranglers started in 1974 and Greenfield joined then in 1975.

Dave Greenfield was is hospital fighting against his heart problems but he died after contracting Covid-19 there. He was 71.

Just checked that more musicians died from Covid-19. Dave Greenfield is the only one I know. And I'm very furious and very sad about this.

Farewell, you arpeggios master.

This is not science fiction. Maybe in a decade or two, people cannot remember. But yes, the world is under lockdown, we're living troubled times, staying at home in quarantine, due to the coronavirus Covid 19.

James Murphy and the LCD soundsystem, they stopped in 2011. But they reborn in 2015. Let us follow their example and hopefully we'll reborn in some months. In the meantime, let's dance with this song "tribulations".

ça plane pour moi

Heard this band Whyte Horses from Manchester singing this old punk song from Plastic Bertrand, the Belgian musician Roger Jouret.
Whyte Horses exists for more than 5 years and they have some pretty known songs. However, it was this cover out one month ago, that caught my attention.
Ça Plane Pour Moi has been covered through decades by dozens of artists (including Metallica, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Kim Wilde, etc) and I love this version from another Belgium band:

And now, Plastic Bertrand, Roger Jouret himself:

If the wind doesn't change, I'll give until I feel. That there's a reason, To believe it's much better to exist.
I know, I don't see the light in me. Not even on anyone else. I just wanted to touch the sky. I don't wish harm to noone.
I know, Tells you the song of fear, One day we'll see but time doesn't bring it. But lose the sense of time. When I love it is always slowly
